Grocery List

Louise Redden, a poorly dressed lady with a look of defeat on her face, walked into a grocery store. She approached the owner of the store in a most humble manner and asked if he would let her charge a few groceries. She softly explained that her husband was very ill and unable to work, they had seven children and they needed food.

John Longhouse, the grocer, scoffed at her and requested that she leave his store at once.

Visualizing the family needs, she said, “Please, sir! I will bring you the money just as soon as I can.”

John told her he could not give her credit, since she did not have a charge account at his store.

Standing beside the counter was a customer who overheard the conversation between the two. The customer walked forward and told the grocer that he would stand good for whatever she needed for her family.

The grocer said in a very reluctant voice, “Do you have a grocery list?”

Louise replied, “Yes sir.”

“O..K”,” he said, “put your grocery list on the scales and whatever your grocery list weighs, I will give you that amount in groceries.”

Louise hesitated a moment with a bowed head, then she reached into her purse and took out a piece of paper and scribbled something on it. She then laid the piece of paper on the scale carefully with her head still bowed.

The eyes of the grocer and the customer showed amazement when the scales went down and stayed down. The grocer, staring at the scales, turned slowly to the customer and said begrudgingly, “I can’t believe it.” The customer smiled and the grocer started putting the groceries on the other side of the scales. The scale did not balance so he continued to put more and more groceries on them until the scales would hold no more. The grocer stood there in utter disgust. Finally, he grabbed the piece of paper from the scales and looked at it with greater amazement.

It was not a grocery list, it was a prayer, which said, “Dear Lord, you know my needs and I am leaving this in your hands.”

The grocer gave her the groceries that he had gathered and stood in stunned silence.

Louise thanked him and left the store.

The other customer handed a fifty-dollar bill to the grocer and said, “It was worth every penny of it. Only God† knows how much a prayer weighs.”

Are You Afraid?

post from David Zanotti, President & CEO, The American Policy Roundtable

[I think Mr. Zanotti is right. We can’t forget Godis on our side. We can’t forget that by standing together, we can make a difference. And we can’t forget that our founding fathers gave us tools to keep our freedoms. We have to make a stand to keep all that was giving to us. Remember the old saying: Freedom isn’t Free!]

Are you afraid? Do you get scared when you look around and see what is happening in America? I do. Maybe presenting some bullet-proof identity would fit better in today’s media-image driven world. Maybe a person of faith shouldn’t be so honest but I’ll tell you plain— sometimes what I see happening and what I see not happening scares me all the same.

The great news is the Bible is filled with constant admonitions that none of us should be afraid. We can’t live in fear, fretting, or worry. (See Psalm 37, Psalm 73 and Matthew 6). There is a good reason we should not be afraid. We are not alone. God† has not abandoned this world, this country, and this very hour. I know the popular culture has taught us that God† left the planet a long time ago and doesn’t really care that much. That is just not true. Here is what He says in His Word in just a few reminders:

  • “The Lord† works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.” Psalm 103:6
  • “The Lord† has established His throne in heaven and His kingdom rules over all.” Psalm 103:19
  • “My Father is always at His work, to this very day and I too am working.” John 5:7

God† has not left the planet. He is here, He sees, He cares and He has a continued plan and a role for all of us to play. And He cares about the struggle between good and evil right here in daily culture. Yes, He cares about the daily commutes on the freeways and subways. Yes, He sees what happens on Main Street and Wall Street. Yes, He cares about who we elect to public office, and yes, He does see what happens in the NFL. (But let’s not go there right now.)

So let’s get a few things on the table right at the beginning of 2012. First, there is a LOT of baloney going around regarding the Presidential Election. The biggest scam going on in the media to date is the under-reporting on the actual delegate vote counts in the Republican Primary. No one, including FOX is giving you the real score. We are at aproundtable.org. Just check out our latest blogs for the true story.

Next, let’s get this straight: ONE MAN cannot fix America, nor can ONE MAN destroy this nation—unless the majority of us permit that to happen. We have been given the tools of a constitutional republic to keep any ONE MAN from dictating reality for America. So we are going to say it now and until our lips fall off—please America, please thinking people—focus on who gets elected to Congress this year. That is the only way to make certain our worst fears do not become reality. Right thinking leaders in Congress with well-constructed worldviews can make all the difference. And they will if we elect them to office and not get off track.

Next, we have to get our eyes on the truth—not on the personalities and the horse races. The issues facing this nation are huge. Health care alone is a matter of life and death for all of us. This election is the best chance we will ever have to save lives from the inevitable destruction of the plan Congress passed but no one read. This is the issue that matters most. There are others that matter a lot, like the national debt, financial collapse, radical Islamic terrorism, religious liberty and more. But if we lose the opportunity to fix health care—people are going to start dying, and fast.  Scary—but not a good enough reason to be afraid. God† sees, He knows, He cares and He is looking for those who are looking for Him. (2 Chronicles16:9).

So—here’s the plan:

  1. Stay focused first on Him† because He cares more than we do.
  2. Keep our efforts on the critical issues.
  3. Keep our priority on building true leaders to serve in Congress and more.
  4. Use every legal tool at our disposal.
  5. Give every dollar we possibly can toward these objectives.

All of that starts at aproundtable.org. There you’ll find your partners working every single day to get this message out to the nation. Together we are reaching more people than ever before.  This is our first call for financial help of 2012. The sand is falling through the hourglass. We have not one minute to waste. Every dollar you give goes straight into the field and is truly needed right now. Remember, your giving here is fully tax-deductible and you can give unlimited personal, corporate, and foundation checks right here. Every dollar counts. We need your help today. Thanks.

Defy the fear. Do the right thing today. You are not alone.

U.S. Funding Moslems: Not Americans?

post by Newsmax Sept 5, 2010

Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the planned mosque near New York’s ground zero comes the disclosure that American taxpayers are funding the construction and renovation of mosques around the world. The State Department’s U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) is spending millions of dollars on at least 29 mosque-related projects in 18 countries, including Pakistan, Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Sudan, and Albania.

[Isn’t this aiding the enemy? Isn’t this an act of treason? Just wondering.]

State Department spokeswoman Nicole Thompson told The Daily Caller website that the AFCP is a type of diplomatic effort and outreach. She said, “It is helping to preserve our cultural heritage. It is not just to preserve religious structures. It is not to preserve a religion. It is to help us as global inhabitants preserve cultures.”

[Isn’t this just another way to fund terrorist? The United States of America is not a global country. We have zero responsiblity to save the world, or any religion. If we can’t have God† (religion) in our own (American) public school system, then why the hell are we allowing the government to fund religions in other countries. Of course, we all know that these mosques are really for a religion. It’s more a political movement designed to kill Christianity†. How many would agree?]

The State Department recently provided Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana, Ranking Republican on the Committee on Foreign Relations, with a document explaining that the funding of mosques was given a green light in 2003. At that time the Justice Department said the Constitution did not bar using federal funds to preserve religious structures if they had cultural significance. But Robert Spencer, director of Jihad Watch, told The Daily Caller that funding mosque renovation and rehabilitation is “disastrously wrongheaded and unconstitutional. They are not going to win hearts and minds. It is not as if they are going to say, ‘the Americans built this mosque for us so we shouldn’t wage jihad on them.’” He added, “A mosque is a mosque is a mosque. It is where prayers happen. That is a religious installation.”

[Really! Take a look at all the videos and articles I have on Moslems and you tell me if this is a “religion” or not!]

And Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, president and founder of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, said, “We have always felt this type of outreach is completely ineffective and that ultimately we have to approach it like the Cold War where we are fighting an ideology. If we are going to have this long war of ideas we cannot fund these religious institutions. We can fund anti-Islamist institutions based in liberty.”

[I am anti-Islamic. I am anti-Christian killing. Anyone see a third crusade coming on?]
